About St Nectarios

O Come, let us Worship and bow down before our King and God.
O Come, let us worship and bow down before Christ, our King and God.
O Come, let us worship and bow down to Christ Himself, our King and God.

This invitation marks the beginning of each day for the Orthodox Church. It comes from the office of Vespers, and it expresses the attitude which is at the heart of Orthodoxy. The Worship of God - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, - is fundamental to the life and spirit of the Orthodox Church. Learn More»

Parish Council News

The Fall General Assembly took place on Sunday, November 24, 2019. The 2020 Budget was approved, the 2020 Stewardship Champaign was launched and Parish Council Elections took place. John Bekhazi, Tatiana Van Dinter, and Maria Touvannas where re-elected for another 2-year term and Tammy Droppo is replacing Nancy Manthos, who is stepping down from her position. Thank you, Nancy, for your continued service to St. Nectarios over the years.

The 2020 Parish Council members are as follows: Maria Touvannas, John Bekhazi, Tatiana Van Dinter, Matt Van Dinter, Ted Kinan, and Tammy Droppo.

The Parish council normally meets once per month. The dates for these meetings are published in the monthly St Nectarios Newsletter (see the "Newsletter" tab) and are open to all members in good standing.

Orthodox Book Discussion Meetings are held on Saturday afternoons (before Vespers) when Father is here. We are currently discussing the book “Our Thoughts determine our Lives” by Elder Thaddeus of Vritovnica. Please come, and invite your friends to come with you, to enjoy a lively discussion – and learn more about the Orthodox faith. These discussion sessions are especially recommended for anyone interested in becoming Orthodox.

Giving is a way to thank God for His Grace and Generosity. The question is not, “How much do I give to stay in the club? Or “What are the dues?” but “How can I thank God for my many blessings. We need your support to both to run the church and to grow our outreach activities to improve our community service.  To formalize your willingness to support, please complete a 2020 Stewardship form (available at the church or by email request) and return it.  Thank you to those that have already made this statement of commitment - your action greatly helps us in planning our activities for the next year.

Liturgy and Typica Services

Father John Angelis from Seattle is assigned to St Nectarios. He normally serves two weekends each month when he conducts several days of activities including a Sunday morning Divine Liturgy.   He visits the Tricities several weekends each month - providing services and community outreach. On weekends that he is not here, Divine Liturgy is being provided on selected Saturdays/Sundays by visiting Priests. On weekends without a Divine Liturgy, a Typica (reader) service is held on Sunday.

Orthodox Sunday Church School

Anytime is a good time for children to start attending!. Two classes are being offered: one for younger and one for older children.   Just come to Church with your children - the classes start after Communion. All are welcome! Parents are encouraged to participate in these classes. Please contact Jim Droppo if you would be willing to be a helper for either of our classes.

Orthodox Discussion Meetings will be held at the St Nectarios Church on Saturday afternoons when Father John is here. These meetings are part of a series of informal meetings with Father John for discussions of church-related topics.
